About The Author
As for me, my name is Josh and I constantly see the effects of drug abuse in friends, family, and other people I've encountered in life. The problem is real and it seems to be spreading to more and more of the people I cherish. I'm a 17 year old senior in high school. Drug abuse has increased in number exponentially in the past 20 years, and the potency of these abused drugs is getting higher as well. Along with the rise of addiction, the general population seems to be becoming more and more lax towards the situation. The country is indifferent to the signs of drug advertising in the music we listen too, movies we watch, and things we read. It really is everywhere, especially in rap music. There are artists like 'Chief Keef' which is a direct connotation to Marijuana. Lil Wayne is constantly rapping about how he drinks codiene out of a cup, and Wiz Khalifa is always singing about 'joints', which is another callout to Marijuana.
All of this propoganda being put out by the rap-world, is pushing it's listeners to think it's 'cool' to smoke weed, pop pills, shoot up, snort, and otherwise injest this illicit drugs. The problem isn't even the rappers, it's more or less the law enforcement. It's illegal to advertise tobacco on television, but for some reason these people have the freedom to propogate illegal drugs in their music? It's a terrifyingly evident reason that the world's young start picking up the pipe, and getting involved with such a horrible part of the world.
My goal to accomplish with the site are to raise awareness of the signs of drug abuse nationwide. Even if only one person decided to avoid drugs because of this website, I think i would be satisfied.
